發展方向:

  1. Scaling up EPON network – in Distance, in Density, and in Coverage
    • Design hardware architectures and communication protocols to facilitate private networking via direct inter-ONU communication
    • Meet the demand of ever-increasing inter-ONU traffic, such as online gaming and interactive video, while improving network utilization
    • Stretch the distance between OLT and ONUs and dramatically increase the number of ONUs supported in a single EPON system
  2. Fusing WiFi with WiMAX – Salvaging the Legacy
    • Allow legacy WiFi devices to access future WiMAX networks by software patch only
    • Design and implement an WiFi/WiMAX router on a network processor platform for bridging the two networks
  3. Playing Games on Networks – Not Your Typical Game
    • Explore game theory in assisting handoff decision in heterogeneous networks
  4. Sensing the Dynamic World in a Green Way – Energy Efficient Communication
    • Investigate energy efficient multicast strategies in wireless sensor networks with multiple mobile sinks
  5. Securing the Network – Wired and Wireless
    • Mend the security loopholes caused by the separation of a burst header and its corresponding data burst in optical burst switching networks
    • Isolate selfish nodes and improve network performance in wireless ad-hoc and/or sensor networks
